8.5"x18" ET=40 wheels

Dear all,
I'm from Italy and I own a MK4 2010 Mondy facelift version (four doors, TDCi 163 cv) with the Eibach Pro-Kit (30mm lowering).
I would want to change my original Ford wheels (8"x18" ET=55) with 8.5"x18" ET=40 wheels, in order to improve the car look.
According to you, this variation could generate scratching between the wheels and arches? Or using these dimensions my car could have technical problems?
If all is ok, my idea is to fit Eta Beta Tettsut (just 8.5"x18" ET=40).
Please help me in this topic!!

Many thanks for your kindness (and for your hospitality!), the thread with the combinations between tyres and wheel size is very useful for me!!
I have only a doubt: the tyres fitted on my Mondy are 235/45-18 (with 8.5"x18" ET=55 wheels). I don't know what the novel sizes are in German but in Italy all the facelift versions have this tyres size with 18" wheels.
Probably there isn't a great difference of compatibility between 235/45 and 235/40 with 8.5"x18" ET=40.
What do you think?
