Door control module with automatic fold/unfold feature

  • Hi all,

Sorry for my English but you would not like me trying to put this in German writhing :D

I am looking for some information about the door control modules from a Mk4 Mondeo with the automatic fold/unfold feature of the side mirrors when locking/unlocking the car from the key fob. I have a Mk4 Mondeo (production date 10.10.2008 ) and sadly my Mondeo “only” is not equipped with the automatic fold/unfold feature but only the manually operated fold/unfold switch inside in the driver side door.

This is a set of photos of my door control module from the driver side front door and this only has the manually fold/unfold feature:

Can anybody please post a photo with details of a door control module from a Mk4 or Mk4.5 Mondeo with the automatic fold/unfold feature when locking/unlocking the car from the key fob?

    Thanks in advance

  • Hi batcave,
if i remenber right, you also need memory seats for this feature.
That´s why i don´t update to this feature.

    Hi C1500,

A few days ago I had a detailed talk with a Ford technician who explained me that it was a common misunderstanding that you needed memory seats in order to get the fold/unfold feature when locking/unlocking your car from the key fob.

He explained me that the automatic fold/unfold feature is controlled by the door control module in the front doors. For the front doors the new versions of control modules work the same way with the folding/unfolding of the side mirrors as when it switches on the puddle light under the mirrors when locking/unlocking the car from the key fob.

The only difference between the old and the new versions of the door control module, is that the newer versions has this fold/unfold feature imbedded in the modules firmware and activates this fold/unfold when locking/unlocking the car.

The technician highlighted that, if you went for a door control module swap, you needed to change all the modules in all four doors! This is because the newer modules “speak” a different languish than the old modules – the firmware is not compatible. And he also explained that the front door control modules were “master modules” and the rear doors were “slave modules”.

In the case you wanted the side mirrors to adjust in order to see the side curb when reversing the car – THEN you need the memory seats in order to get the correct alignment.

  • Hi batcave,

can you please ask the technician for the partnumbers?
From witch date is the new version of the door module build in?

This is the information I am looking for right now!!!

Sadly enough, I only met up with the Ford technician outside working time and therefor he did not have acces to his computer....

  • Well I got some news here 8o

According to my Ford technician, it is possible to do a “Door Control Module” swap and then get the automatically fold/unfold feature when locking your car with the use of your key fob.

What you need is the following new door control modules:
    - Front left: Ford finis number 1706790 (module series number: 9g9t-14b533-ec)
    - Front right: Ford finis number 1706798 (module series number: 9g9t-14b533-kc)
    - Rear left: Ford finis number 1679874 (module series number: 9g9t-14b534-cc)
    - Rear right: Ford finis number 1679874 (module series number: 9g9t-14b534-cc)

The only thing he can’t give me a straight answer to, is if you need to do some changes to the cables – BUT he did say that the swap was done "plug-and-play" on a couple Mk4 Mondeos already here in Denmark and he was shure that it should work on models from 2009 and forward!!!
